A test contact was used to register on approximately 30 company websites, choosing newsletter sign-up forms, email update registrations, account creation routes, or via downloadable content where necessary. Confirmation emails were actioned when required and where extra information was requested. Broad interests were selected when offered a range of products or services. After registration, no further interactions took place on the websites, enabling Napier to monitor and assess what companies would send over the course of one month.
